The Dow advanced over 210 points, or 0.5%, to end near 46,924, according to preliminary data from FactSet. The blue-chip index has risen for three consecutive trading days.

The S&P 500 ended flat, at around 6,735.

The Nasdaq Composite lost nearly 0.2%, to finish at around 22,953.
