Nissan Tekton mid-size SUV revealed, India launch expected in mid-2026
Nissan India has unveiled the name of its upcoming mid-size SUV, set to rival the Hyundai Creta in the Indian market. The new model will be called the Nissan Tekton, a word derived from Greek meaning “craftsman” or “architect.” The SUV is scheduled to make its debut in India by mid-2026 and will share its underpinnings with the next-generation Renault Duster.
Exterior design draws from Nissan Patrol
The Tekton’s styling takes inspiration from Nissan’s flagship Patrol SUV. It features a prominent grille design, sculpted bonnet and strong character lines that give it a bold stance. C-shaped LED lighting signatures connect the headlamps and tail-lamps, echoing elements from the Patrol, while flared wheel arches and multi-spoke alloys add a touch of sportiness.
Other exterior highlights include the ‘Tekton’ lettering on the nose, dual-tone bumpers, a distinctive silver trim on the front doors and a roof-mounted spoiler at the rear.
Interior with three-tone dashboard
Nissan has provided a glimpse of the Tekton’s interior, revealing a dashboard with a unique three-tone treatment. The layout combines soft-touch materials, glossy black panels and a copper-coloured strip running across the width of the dash, lending a premium appearance. More interior details are expected closer to launch.
Platform and powertrains
The Tekton will be built on the same architecture as the upcoming Renault Duster. While Nissan has not confirmed powertrain details, it is expected to be offered with petrol engine options, in line with market trends and shared components with the Duster. Production will take place at the Renault-Nissan Alliance plant in Chennai, with both domestic and export markets in focus.
