As Ferrari unveiled details of its electric supercar, it also announced a cutback in its EV sales forecast. At its Capital Markets Day in 2022, the company estimated that EVs would account for 40 percent of its sales, while hybrids would contribute 40 percent and the remaining 20 percent would come from internal combustion engine models (ICE).

However, at its recently concluded 2025 Capital Markets Day held at Ferrari’s new e-Building in Maranello, the brand said it has now cuts its EV sales forecast to 20 percent and it expects ICE models to contribute to 40 percent with hybrids accounting of the other 40 percent by 2030.

Ferrari to continue to follow ‘scarcity’ business model

That said, the dip in EV projections hasn’t slowed Ferrari’s momentum. Overall sales are expected to grow, albeit intentionally curtailed within limits as has been the practice before. The company believes that exclusivity is what adds value to the brand.

“I would rather sell a few volumes of more models than a few models with more volume,” said Benedetto Vigna, CEO of Ferrari, at the 2025 Capital Markets Day. Ferrari believes its ‘scarcity’ business model will continue beyond 2030.

Speaking further on the topic, Vigna stated, There are easier ways to increase revenue and EBITDA, but that’s not the game plan. We want to grow steadily whilst maintaining the appeal and uniqueness of the brand.”

This might come as a surprise, considering the upcoming all-electric Ferrari – nicknamed the Elettrica – has been conceived to expand the clientele and cater to the growing demand for EVs. However, Vigna clarified that while the Elettrica will attract a broader audience, it won’t be widely available, maintaining the brand’s hallmark exclusivity.

Ferrari remains confident that markets like China and others in the Asian subcontinent will appreciate the Elettrica. While there isn’t significant potential to open entirely new markets with the EV, its current spread has already generated substantial interest.

The design and final product are expected to be ready by Q2 of 2026, with the launch scheduled shortly thereafter.
