Suzuki will showcase a Compressed Bio Gas (CBG) variant of the Victoris at the upcoming Japan Mobility Show 2025, running from October 30 to November 9. The CBG variant gets the underbody dual-cylinder tank configuration seen on the CNG version, ensuring boot space remains unaffected.
- Victoris CBG adopts an underbody dual-cylinder tank arrangement like the CNG variant
- It will be showcased at the Japan mobility show without a confirmed India launch
CBG technology and the Indian context
Compressed Bio Gas and CNG share identical chemical compositions—both are compressed methane—but their sources differ fundamentally. CNG comes from fossil fuel deposits, whereas CBG results from anaerobic digestion of organic waste such as agricultural residue, cattle dung, and municipal waste. This makes CBG a renewable fuel operating within a closed carbon cycle, where carbon is continuously reused.
A miniature model of a biogas plant currently operational in India will also be showcased.
For India, CBG holds strategic value given the abundant agricultural and dairy waste streams, yet, currently, no passenger vehicle in India is sold with a CBG powertrain. Maruti Suzuki has invested Rs 450 crore in renewable energy initiatives, including a biogas plant at its Manesar facility that commenced operations in 2024.
Maruti Victoris India lineup
The Victoris was launched in September 2025, spanning 21 trims across three powertrains. The 1.5-litre mild-hybrid petrol engine produces 103hp and 139Nm, mated to either a five-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox. Claimed efficiency reads 21.18 kmpl for the manual and 21.06 kmpl for the automatic, while all-wheel-drive versions deliver 19.07 kmpl.

The strong-hybrid option employs a Toyota-derived 1.5-litre petrol-electric setup producing a combined 116hp and 141Nm, linked to an e-CVT. Claimed efficiency touches 28.56 kmpl, making it the lineup’s most fuel-sipping choice.
S-CNG trims generate 89hp in CNG mode, available only with a five-speed manual gearbox. The CNG spec returns 27.02 km/kg.
Victoris is retailed through Maruti’s Arena network and squares off against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Toyota Urban Cruiser Hyryder, and Honda Elevate in the midsize SUV space.
Pricing spans between Rs 10.50 lakh to Rs 19.99 lakh (ex-showroom), with CNG variants starting at Rs 11.50 lakh (ex-showroom).
