Ventilated seats, also known as cooled seats, are among the most desirable features car buyers look for. Especially useful in the summer months, having ventilated seats in your hatchback, sedan, MPV, or SUV can be advantageous in staying cool. 10 years ago, this feature was quite rare in the mass-market segment, with buyers needing to spend around Rs 30 lakh to get it. Today, however, there are plenty of SUVs, and even an MPV available with ventilated seats, all priced under Rs 15 lakh. So, without further digression, here are the 10 most affordable cars on sale in India with ventilated seats.    

10. Tata Nexon

Rs 13.29 lakh-15.39 lakh

Ventilated front seats are available only on the top-spec Tata Nexon Fearless + PS trim. Interestingly, as the Nexon CNG is also offered in this trim, Tata’s compact SUV is the most affordable CNG-powered model with cooled seats. The Nexon is on offer with a 120hp, 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, a 100hp CNG-powered version of the three-cylinder turbocharged unit, and a 115hp, 1.5-litre diesel engine. In its range-topping form, the petrol gets 6-speed manual and 7-speed dual-clutch auto gearbox options, while the diesel gets 6-speed manual and AMT options.

9. MG Astor

Rs 13.23 lakh-15.16 lakh

The MG Astor happens to be one of the mid-size SUV's on this list with ventilated seats. The MG Astor comes with ventilated seats on the top Sharp Pro and Savvy Pro variants. The MG Astor is sold only with a sole petrol engine producing 110hp and 144Nm of torque and is available with a 5-speed manual and CVT transmissions. 

8. Maruti XL6

Rs 13.12 lakh-14.47 lakh

The only MPV on this list and the most affordable with ventilated seats, the Maruti Suzuki XL6 has this feature only on the top-spec Alpha+ variant. For reference, the Kia Carens is the only other MPV in this size bracket with cooled seats, but as it’s only offered on the range-topping Luxury Plus and X-Line trims, the Korean MPV with the feature costs north of Rs 19 lakh. The XL6 has a 103hp, 1.5-litre petrol engine with 5-speed manual and 6-speed auto gearbox options.

7. Tata Punch EV

Rs 12.84 lakh-13.14 lakh

Tata’s smallest e-SUV, the Punch EV, gets ventilated seats in its range-topping Empowered + and the Empowered +S trim. The Citroen eC3 rival can be equipped with either a 25kWh battery or a 35kWh pack, with respective MIDC ranges of 265km and 365km. The Tata Punch EV is the most affordable EV on sale in India with this feature. 

6. Citroen Aircross X

Rs 12.34 lakh-13.69 lakh

Citroen recently brought an update to the mid-size Aircross SUV by giving it the 'X' treatment consisting of variant changes and feature additions. Ventilated front seats are available only on the top-end X Max trim. The X Max comes only with the turbo-petrol engine producing 110hp and comes with manual and automatic transmissions. 5. Kia Syros

Rs 12.10 lakh-15.93 lakh

The Kia Syros is the most affordable car in India to have front and rear seat ventilation, though the latter only provides cooling from the seat base and not the seat back. Ventilated front seats are on offer on the higher-spec HTX and HTX+ and the top-spec HTX+ (O) variants, while the ventilated rear bench, which also comes with a segment-first slide and recline function, is available only on the pricey range-topping Syros HTX+ (O) trim. The above-mentioned Sonet and Syros share the same turbo-petrol and diesel engine options.

4. Skoda Kylaq

Rs 11.83 lakh-12.79 lakh

Skoda’s first compact SUV comes with ventilated front seats, but only on the top-spec Prestige variant. It is among the few compact SUVs to get this feature, outdoing the likes of the Hyundai Venue, Mahindra XUV 3XO, Nissan Magnite, Renault Kiger and Maruti Brezza. The Skoda Kylaq is powered by a 115hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with 6-speed manual and 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox options.

3. Citroen Basalt X

Rs 11.62-13.10 lakh

Along with the Citroen Aircross getting the X treatment, the Citroen Basalt coupe SUV also got the X treatment along with variant rejigs and feature additions. Although, ventilated front seats are available only in the X Max variant. The X Max comes with the similar turbo- petrol engine and transmission setup from the Aircross X.

2. Kia Sonet

Rs 10.80 lakh-14 lakh

Kia’s first compact SUV for India gets cooled front seats on the top-spec HTX, GTX+ and X-Line variants. These range-topping trims are available only with the 120hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine and the 116hp, 1.5-litre diesel unit; 6-speed iMT and 7-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission options are offered on the Kia Sonet petrol, while the diesel is available only with the GTX+ trim and the 6-speed torque converter automatic gearbox. The Sonet rivals the likes of the Mahindra XUV 3XO, Hyundai Venue and Tata Nexon.

1. Renault Kiger

Rs 8.37 lakh-10.33 lakh

The Renault Kiger is now the cheapest car in India with ventilated front seats, as the facelift launched on August 24 offers the feature at just Rs 8.37 lakh, in the top-spec Emotion trim. In fact, Renault’s compact SUV is also the only car to cost under Rs 10 lakh and get cooled seats. The Kiger facelift’s Emotion trim is available with 72hp 1.0-litre petrol and 100hp, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol engine options; the former gets a 5-speed manual only, while the turbocharged unit has a CVT option along with the manual gearbox.
