Skoda has launched the latest iteration of the Octavia RS in India at an asking price of Rs 49.99 lakh. Order books for the Octavia RS – limited to just 100 fully imported units – opened on October 6, and every unit of the long-awaited performance sedan has been spoken for.
The closest rival to the Octavia RS is the Volkswagen Golf GTI, which, at Rs 50.91 lakh, is slightly more expensive. In terms of form factor, the Octavia RS is more akin to the BMW M340i and Audi S5 Sportback, though the Germans are substantially pricier and more powerful than the Skoda.

Skoda Octavia RS powertrain and performance
Most powerful version of the Octavia so far; 0-100kph in 6.4sec (claimed)

The Octavia RS comes equipped with the Volkswagen Group’s renowned ‘EA888’ 2.0-litre turbo-petrol motor, which also does duty in the Golf GTI. In the Octavia RS, this engine makes 265hp and 370Nm and is mated to a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic that sends power to the front wheels.
Sports exhaust system is standard, but no DCC
Skoda claims a 0-100kph time of 6.4 seconds and a top speed of 250kph for the Octavia RS, and it gets a sports exhaust system as standard, too. However, the Octavia RS sold in India does not feature Dynamic Chassis Control (DCC). This function constantly tweaks the Octavia RS’ suspension damping, steering system and transmission while on the move to optimise handling.
