SCOOP – Tata Safari, Harrier Petrol & Sierra ICE & EV Launch Timeline Revealed

Tata gears up with Safari, Harrier petrol and Sierra ICE/EV launches

Tata Motors is gearing up for a busy period with several important product launches lined up over the next few months. The Indian automaker is set to introduce petrol-powered variants of the Safari and Harrier, alongside the much-anticipated Sierra in both internal combustion (ICE) and electric (EV) forms.

Harrier and Safari Petrol Launch in December 2025

The Tata Harrier and Safari SUVs, currently available only with a diesel engine, will soon get petrol-powered options. The new 1.5-litre, four-cylinder turbocharged GDI petrol engine is expected to deliver around 168–170 PS of power and 280 Nm of torque. Buyers will have the choice of a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic gearbox.

For reference, the existing diesel trims use a 2.0-litre, four-cylinder Kryotec engine sourced from Fiat. This motor generates 170 PS and 350 Nm of torque and is paired with manual or automatic transmission options. The upcoming petrol variants are expected to retain the same features as their diesel counterparts.

Sierra ICE Coming in November

The revival of the iconic Sierra is another major highlight. Tata plans to launch the ICE version in November 2025. It will be offered with both the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol and the familiar 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engines. The SUV’s design is expected to stay close to the near-production concept shown at the 2025 Auto Expo, blending modern SUV appeal with retro touches inspired by the original Sierra.

Feature-wise, the Sierra is likely to share equipment with Tata’s current SUV lineup, though Tata could introduce some exclusive touches. The expected price range is between Rs. 15–20 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Sierra EV Scheduled for January 2026

Following the ICE debut, Tata will launch the Sierra EV in January 2026. Built on the Acti.ev+ platform, the electric Sierra is likely to share battery packs with the Harrier EV – options include 65kWh and 75kWh units. Tata is expected to offer a range of up to 600 km on a single charge.

The EV will feature a front-wheel-drive setup as standard, while higher variants may offer an optional dual-motor quad-wheel-drive (QWD) system. The Sierra EV is expected to be priced at around Rs. 30 lakh (ex-showroom), positioning it as a premium electric SUV in Tata’s portfolio.
