Vietnam’s home-grown electric mobility giant has been teasing Indian audiences ever since its sprawling pavilion at the Auto Expo left enthusiasts curious about what was coming. That moment has now arrived. VinFast has launched the VF 6 and VF 7 in India, marking its formal entry into one of the world’s fastest-growing EV markets. This isn’t just another global brand vying for a piece of the Indian EV pie; it’s the start of a significant push to localise and scale operations here.

VinFast’s India launch in Delhi saw Asia CEO Pham Sanh Chau and chief engineer Vincent John Pendlebury present the VF 6 and the sleeker, sportier VF 7 – the brand’s first steps into the market.
When VinFast first gave us a glimpse of its line-up at the Expo, it wasn’t just the compact VF 3 or the futuristic Wild pickup concept that caught our eye. The company showcased nearly its entire global range, from small city runabouts to the luxurious VF 8 and VF 9, signalling their intent. That intent has since translated into action on the ground. A massive 400-acre plant has been set up in Thoothukudi, Tamil Nadu with an investment of Rs 16,000 crore. The facility is already operational, with Phase 1 of production geared for 50,000 units annually and expected to generate around 3,500 jobs. Local manufacturing will help VinFast price its products competitively while ensuring faster ramp-ups and support.
And those products are here. The first wave comprises the VF 6 and VF 7, both unveiled at a glittering launch event. The VF 6, priced from Rs 16.49 lakh, is a smartly proportioned electric SUV that delivers 177hp in its Earth variant and 204hp with 310Nm in the range-topping Wind variants. It packs in features such as a panoramic glass roof, dual-zone climate control, ventilated and powered seats, and Level-2 ADAS – impressive equipment for the price.
The VF 7, starting at Rs 20.89 lakh, sits above it as VinFast’s flagship for India. It carries the brand’s signature ‘V Face’ LED DRLs, 19-inch alloys, a raised-for-India 190mm ground clearance and a concave front bumper for a distinctive look. Under the skin, the VF 7 offers multiple battery and drivetrain options, from a 59.6kWh pack with 177hp and 438km ARAI range to a 70.8kWh AWD version with 350hp, 500Nm, and a blistering 0-100kph sprint in 5.8 seconds. Inside, vegan leather upholstery, a large fixed glass roof, a 12.9-inch touchscreen, wireless charging and ventilated front seats create a premium, tech-forward ambience.

Cabins of the VF 6 and VF 7 both pack in slick digital displays and a clean, modern layout, with the VF 7 turning the premium feel up a notch.
Perhaps most striking is the ownership package. Both cars come with three years of free maintenance and complementary charging at V-Green stations until July 2028, a 10-year warranty on the battery, a 7-year / 1,60,000km warranty on the VF 6, and 10-year / 2,00,000km on the VF 7, a reassuring move for price and value conscious Indian buyers venturing into EVs.
VinFast’s India debut with the VF 6 and VF 7 isn’t just another launch; it’s a clear statement of long-term commitment. With dealerships set to open soon across major cities, the invitation is out: go see, touch and drive these new-age EVs for yourself. The Vin-ning Formula has officially arrived.
