
The Fronx is one of Maruti's compact SUV contenders built on a platform similar to the Baleno hatchback. The Fronx gets a unique coupe-ish crossover design that sets it apart from its rivals, and is sold through the premium Nexa outlets by Maruti. If you're interested in buying a Maruti Fronx, here's all you need to know about it.
1. What is the Maruti Fronx price?
The Maruti Fronx price starts from Rs 6.84 lakh for the base Sigma trim, and goes all the way up to Rs 11.83 lakh for the top-of-the-line Alpha trim, both prices ex-showroom. Depending on the city, Maruti Fronx on-road prices roughly range between Rs 7.80 lakh and Rs 13.70 lakh.
2. What engines are available on the Maruti Fronx?
The Fronx comes with three engine options. There's a naturally aspirated 1.2-litre petrol engine producing 90hp and 113Nm of torque, mated to either a 5-speed manual or 5-speed AMT transmission. This engine is also available in CNG guise with a power output of 78hp and 99Nm. The CNG only comes with a 5-speed manual transmission and is exclusive to the Sigma and Delta variants. The crossover also gets a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine producing 100hp and 148Nm of torque, which is offered with either a 5-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
3. What is the mileage of the Maruti Fronx?
The claimed mileage of the Fronx petrol is 21.79kpl and 22.89kpl for the manual and AMT transmissions, respectively. Similarly, the 1.0 turbo-petrol MT is claimed to deliver a mileage of 21.5kpl for the manual and 20.01kpl for the automatic. Meanwhile, the CNG variants offer a claimed mileage of 28.51 km/kg.
4. What features does the Maruti Fronx get?
In its top Alpha variant, the Fronx comes with features like a 9-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Arkamys sound, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, a wireless charger, heads-up display, a 360-degree camera, connected car tech, cruise control, and rear AC vents. Additionally, the Fronx also gets LED headlights and conected LED tail lamps, paddle shifters (AT only), steering mounted controls, auto AC, keyless entry.
5. Does the Fronx get a strong hybrid engine?
No, the Fronx does not get a strong hybrid engine yet, but it is understood to be under development. Suzuki will also be showcasing a flex-fuel concept of the Fronx at the Japan Mobility Show, coming soon.
6. Has the Maruti Fronx been tested by the BNCAP?
No, the Fronx has not been crash tested by the BNCAP. However, the SUV achieved a 4-star rating by the Japan NCAP, scoring an overall score of 84 per cent.
Standard safety kit on the Fronx includes six airbags, ABS with EBD, ISOFIX points, hill hold assist and rear parking sensors.
7. What cars does the Maruti Fronx compete with?
Sitting in sub-4m space, the Fronx competes with the likes of cars such as the Toyota Taisor, Maruti Brezza, Tata Nexon, Skoda Kylaq, Hyundai Venue, and the Kia Sonet.
